The removal of small portions of branches, on the outer crown of a tree.

Will help to produce a uniform density of foliage and an evenly spaced structure.

This should allow more light to pass through the crown.

It does not alter the overall size and shape of the tree and, thinning should not exceed more than 30% of the overall tree.

Crown thinning will usually reduce the weight of the tree and, wind resistance.

Preparing lower branches for future removal and/or the removal of the lowest branches.

Creates more space between the tree and the ground below.

Reduces the weight of the crown.

It should not include the removal of large branches, growing directly from the trunk.

Crown raising is an effective method of increasing light to areas close to the tree.

A process of removing branch tips and pruning and reducing larger branches back.

May reduction the height and/or spread of the crown.

This can make the tree more suited to it's environment and, reduce shading and light loss.

It may be done to remove dead, diseased or damaged branches, or just to reduce the overall size of the tree.

A pruning system involving the removal of the upper branches of a tree.

Initial removal of the top of a young tree, once started it should be repeated; always retaining the initial pollard point.

This promotes the growth of a dense head of foliage and branches.

This is the removal of non living branches or stems. May have died due to natural ageing or external influences.

These limbs can break off and fall overtime or during high winds and storms.

Make sure to get your trees regularly inspected and assessed for deadwood

Once deadwood has been removed, it's best to leave it in the area; this will create a new habitat for wildlife!

The removal of a tree, in sections or as a whole.

A tree may need to be removed for a number of reasons e.g. if it has become hazardous, causing property subsidence, blocking light...

Some tree's can be felled in one go or large sections while others may need to be felled in small sections.

Dismantling is where a tree is removed carefully, in small sections using specialists techniques and equipment.

This will help eliminate potential damage to nearby trees and structures.

Grinding is a technique used to destroy and remove tree and hedge stumps and their root systems.

A stump grinder can completely destroy the stump and roots of a trees in nminutes.

Stumps can be chemically treated to prevent regrowth but, it can take years to rot down and disapear. This is not always guarenteed so, it's best to get a quote for removing the stump in case.

If the tree you removed was diseased then avoiding stump removal could cause the disease to spread through its roots and into other plants.

New hedges require formative pruning for the first couple of years after planting, this is usually carried out in the winter or spring.

Maintenance trimming occurs after this, usually once or twice a year.

The maintenance trimming is usually carried out between spring and summer. It can revive the appearance and health of your hedge.

Hedges can be reduces in height but, they can grow rapidly so, be sure to stay on top of the maintenance.

Some trees in the UK are legally protected by preservation orders or conservation areas.

To fell or prune a protected tree you must obtain permission from your Local Planning Authority, otherwise it could be a criminal offence.

'Scrub' can be a few scattered bushes, a patch of nettles and bramble or an area of young trees, starting to grow.

If left unchecked, scrub could take over and turn flower-rich grasslands into wild woodlands.

The aim of scrub-clearing work is not to remove the scrub entirely, but to make sure it isn't dominating the area.

You may need to do this for areas at your property that are not often used e.g. alley ways and side entrances - they can become overgrown with weeds and plants, preventing access.

From MEWPs, Mulchers and Tracked Chippers to Avant Loaders, Cranes and Extractors - We have and can hire, comprehensive machinery for all commercial site work.

Site clearance could be an area of shrubs, bushes and hedging that needs clearing to allow for an extension

It could also be land with a number of trees that need to be felled to allow for new housing developments.

Whatever the project is, we can provide you with a free quote and advice for the work.
